I also love curries and I eat a lot of rice! I can’t go past a wood fire pizza or a vegetable lasagna. I love a hot meal! Some of my favourite dishes are from the Indian and the Italian cuisine. If he doesn’t get walked then we hear about it (he howls until he gets his way). I also have a Husky and he demands at least two (sometimes three) walks a day. On the weekends we head to the beach, to a playground or for a long walk in nature. I also have three girls so that keeps definitely keeps me on my toes! I like to head outdoors with my husband and my girls. Recently I have started adding more strength based exercises into my body by including hand weights, kettle bells and resistance bands. I practice mainly power yoga and ashtanga. If I am not in the mood to read, I like to watch to TED talks on YouTube or I listen to an audio book- a lot of the time I will listen to an audio book through headphones whilst my kids are asleep or I listen to them while I am driving to a class or doing the school run. I love to read! Some of my favourite books are ‘Big Magic’ by Elizabeth Gilbert, ‘Mastering Your Mean Girl’ by Melissa Ambrossini, ‘The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success’ by Deepak Chopra and so much more!Īlthough I also enjoy reading books like Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings, I think it’s so important to read books that teach you something. Go to motivation: (how do you stay motivated when times are tough) When I am in my car on a Friday, I will tune into B105 because they always play the best old school RnB. Sometimes during class I will play very traditional yoga music and other times if I am teaching a strong class you will hear Kanye West. It is delicious!Īt the moment I am listeing to Khalid, Drake, Lorde and anything that the Lana Del Ray puts out. If I am at home I usually whip together a berry smoothie consisting of blueberries, strawberries, blackberries, a banana, honey, coconut water and almond milk. I also normally have a banana in my bag for when I am on the go. I also happen to be a very messy eater, eating out in a nice restaurant is a challenge for me.Īfter a yoga class I like to go for a raw treat and either an acai bowl or an acai smoothie. I am actually really clumsy, I trip, slip and fall a lot! I don’t know what it is, but on the mat I feel like a graceful ballerina but in ‘real life’ I am actually pretty awkward. I also love that LJ is committed to sharing practices, tips and guides to inspire, motivate and empower women. Lorna Jane and her team have reached out to some of the best trainers, health coaches and nutritionists. The internet is a gold mine! There is a huge amount of information that can be accessed and all with just the click of a button (and it’s free!) The tricky part is finding good information and the Active Living Program offers just that. What excites you the most about the Active Living Program? Being an instructor is a huge responsibility and privilege and one that I don’t take for granted. I love seeing a beginner come into the studio and fall in love with yoga and transform the way they move, live and think. It is honestly so rewarding to know that I have made this small difference in someones day/week or even life! I knew I had to take this practice to others so that they too could feel this good.įor me, the best part about being a yoga instructor is seeing my students come out of savasana looking rested, relaxed and rejuvenated. After years of pretty much hating my body and lots of negative self talk, I felt like I had somehow come home to myself. Back then, I attended a lot of dance classes and my teacher would always take us through stretches before and after class, and eventually it lead me to attending a yoga class.Īt first, I really didn’t enjoy it, I found it very slow, boring and I quickly became disinterested! But over the years I found myself coming back to class and it wasn’t until after my third daughter was born that I really committed to a consistent practice. I attended my very first yoga class when I was sixteen years old. I have been a yoga instructor now for almost two years. I practice yoga almost daily and I try to attend class as a student at least once or twice a week.
